Members of The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers receive a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction that is unmatched in the industry. Each professional spends a minimum of four years in the classroom, studying applicable math, blueprint interpretation, application techniques, pattern layout, workplace safety and supervision. Local 17 is also committed to the continuing education of its journeymen and trains them yearly on the latest industry applications.
•Each year, an average of 185 apprentices participate in Local 17’s apprenticeship program. •Each year, Local 17 trains an average of 125 Hazardous Waste Handlers & Firestoppers. •Over the past ten years, more than 1,500 workers have received OSHA training from Local 17. •Each year, about 125 journeymen receive ongoing training on the latest techniques and standards.
